Keeping kids healthy

As the main aim of ActiveDance is to encourage active lifestyles we feel that taking our classes into schools is extremely beneficial to their pupils as it encourages them to be active outside of the schools scheduled physical education time.  It also enables a wide variety of children to try street dance and allows the school to offer an active extra curricular activity.

ActiveDance currently run a number of after school clubs at Primary Schools throughout the Bury area.  These clubs are weekly hour long dance classes where the school’s pupils get to attend a street dance class within the environment of their school.

ActiveDance also hold dance classes to cover PPA (Planning, Preparation & Assessment) time in schools.  This is where ActiveDance come into a school and take complete control of classes for a morning or afternoon whilst the teachers have their weekly PPA time.

Whilst in our classes, children participate in a variety of exercise activities and learn numerous dance routines to popular chart music.  They also get to explore their own creativity by getting the opportunity to dance to music of their interest and put together their own routines.

In order to recognise the participating children’s achievements they receive a certificate at the end of their course and get the opportunity to perform in front of their family and peers in the last session.

ActiveDance have also carried out dance classes as part of a schools creative arts curriculum.  Primary School held a creative arts week and ActiveDance went along to introduce their pupils to street dance.

We feel that bringing street dance into schools is extremely beneficial to children, as it introduces them to an alternative method of exercising, helping to keep them enthusiastic about fitness.
